Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys -
Wednesday
___________________________________________

Jody Nix is a native and current resident of Big Spring
but he is known wherever Western Swing music is played.
Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys continue the tradition
of Hoyle Nix, Jody's father, and they still play in
Hoyle's hall The Stampede just north of Big Spring. |
 |
When Robert Weeks and Jody team up on the
fiddles they can convince you that The Devil Went Down
to Georgia, and you can still hear him on the fiddle. |
 |
Johnny Cox has played with many of the greats in his
time, and still does with Jody and the Texas Playboys
(see his picture with the latter on Friday night below) |
 |
Jody's brother Larry Nix has been back with Jody for
several years now on bass. |
 |
Dixie Hankins proves that not all good drummers are
male. |
 |
Jody's newest band member doesn't even have to draw a
bow to wow the crowd. |
 |
She even creates a minor sensation offstage. |
Gospel Singing - Thursday

Bob and Marla Rainwater sang for the fair on Thursday
night in the Gospel Singing night. No picture is
available. But they sang for the Friends of the Fair
dinner a week earlier. That night we had 100
decibels of Rainwater's and 2 inches of rainwater.
The downpour came in through the air conditioner opening
and wiped out the concert, but only after we had enjoyed
most of it.
The Rainwater's were not surprised. "We aren't
named Rainwater for nothing", was their "dry"
explanation. |
