CHILDREN'S FAIR
September 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th will be big days in Howard and the surrounding counties. That’s right, it’s Fair time again. Hopefully by moving the Fair to September, it will be somewhat cooler and give our teachers a little more preparation time. We are looking forward to seeing each of you at the annual Howard County Fair.
This year our school age kids will be “Unmasking the Fun “ at the Howard County Fair. Children are asked to make the mask of their choice. Masks come in all shapes and sizes including Mardi gras, African, Clown, Animal, and Cartoon Characters as well as many others. We hope to have a wide variety of masks to display at this years fair. Construction materials may be as simple as paper plates or as elaborate as paper mache’. Classroom or individual projects are great. A big thanks to teachers and principals alike because without your participation, the children’s fair would be a thing of the past. Ribbons are awarded to each entry in this division.
Once again this year, Tom Koger will be heading up the Children’s School Tours Thursday , September 28th and Friday, September 29th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. We hope you will be able to plan a trip to the Fair for your pre-k through 4th grades. If it is convenient, a call to Nancy Howard notifying us of your date and time of arrival is very helpful in our scheduling. Remember, whether or not you call please make plans to join us at the Fair.
Let’s not forget the art and photography projects for elementary, junior high and high school. Watercolor, oils, pastels and other mediums are accepted in the art department. In order to keep up with the public, the fair has added a new division, scrap booking. We hope to have a large number of entries in this division. Your entries need to be 6 x 6, 8 x 11 1/2, or 12 x 12.
Also, for the second year is a poetry division. We have categories for elementary, junior high and high school. Write your poems on an eight by ten piece of paper. Poems will be stapled, so if you would like you may enter a copy of your original. Please put your name and school on the back of your poem.
For information concerning art, scrap booking or poetry, please contact Geraldine Posey at 263-1267 or 267-4232. For information concerning the children’s fair contact Nancy Howard at 353-4448. For information concerning the school tours contact Tom Koger at 267-7809. Entries will be taken in these divisions Tuesday, September 26, 2006 from 8:00a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Thanks again from the Fair Board to everyone involved with the school. Your participation is vital to the Howard County Fair and its continued success.
Sincerely,
Howard County Fair Board of Directors
